Volcano is my first authorial piece and also the first model developed entirely freehand. Created as a commissioned work in mid-2019, the pipe emerged from complete creative freedom: I had full autonomy to define forms, proportions, and details, without prior restrictions. It was also the first piece in which I used copper — a choice that carries personal and symbolic meaning.

The origin of the model traces back to a specific experience in the workshop, marked above all by the desire to explore new contours. At the time, I was frequently producing the Prince model and dedicating myself intensely to its classical lines. At a certain moment, I had the insight that this form could be reinvented. From this investigation, the first lines of what would later be named Volcano began to emerge.

The name came later, due to its visual resemblance to the traditional Volcano model, known for its wider base in contrast to the top of the bowl. Even so, this piece distances itself from a formal reproduction: its proportions and balance were refined over the years, accompanying the maturation of my practice.

Volcano represents the desire to expand formal possibilities and inaugurates a moment of transition within my trajectory: the shift from the craft of pipe making toward a practice more closely connected to artistic language. In this sense, this authorial model can be understood as a prelude to this movement, where the symbolic dimension begins to constitute the creative process.
