The pipes in this series, entitled Ancestralidade (Ancestrality), are the result of an ongoing independent anthropological research project that brings together the technical knowledge of the European pipe-making tradition with Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian aesthetic references. In this context, the pipe is understood as a relational object, carrying symbolic, social, and ritual dimensions.

Chaco is a reinterpretation of an Indigenous pipe held in the collection of the Amsterdam Pipe Museum, its name referring to its possible ethnographic origin, while Berimbau N° 01 establishes a dialogue with the musical instrument used in capoeira, a Brazilian cultural expression consolidated through the resistance struggles of Afro-Brazilian communities.

The research develops through the reinterpretation of forms and uses associated with forest peoples and Afro-Brazilian communities, as well as through the creation of original models that engage with their aesthetic and symbolic references. It is a process of material investigation that seeks to recognize and respect the cultural contexts, meanings, and modes of knowledge transmission present in these traditions, not with the intention of reproducing them, but rather of establishing contemporary dialogues with these cultural universes.
