ENCONTRO DO RIO COM O MAR

The series Encontro do Rio com o Mar (Encounter of the River with the Sea) explores, in a visual and symbolic way, the thresholds between distinct forces. The sandblasted finish and the contrast between colors evoke the moment when the sweet waters of rivers meet the salty waters of the ocean, revealing a state of transition, movement, and balance.

The inspiration for this series came after a full day spent along the banks of the Cahy River, in the far south of Bahia, Brazil, observing its path toward the sea. In this encounter between distinct forces, where neither one is entirely absorbed by the other, a dialogue emerges that is essential to transformation. This same idea is expressed in the pipes of the series through the meeting of surfaces, colors, and textures, as well as in the sandblasting process itself, where achieving the desired depth requires time, patience, and attention.

Each piece seeks to translate the almost imperceptible beauty of this encounter, celebrating moments in which distinct elements come closer, blend, and create something new without losing their own essence.

They are, therefore, pieces with deep sandblasting and strong contrast, which also incorporate a third element through the rings of each pipe. Made from distinct materials, these elements refer to universes that do not necessarily belong to either fresh or salt waters, but that maintain different forms of relationship or interdependence with them.
